Skilled Nursing A state-of-the-art rehabilitation clinic at Ridgecrest offers a variety of therapeutic services provided by on-site, licensed Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapists. Individualized programs for patients result in optimal outcomes. The facility has a large gym dedicated for the sole purpose of one-on-one physical, occupational and speech therapies. State-of-the-art equipment includes parallel bars, stairs, weights, kitchen facilities, standing frame, tilt table, arm bikes, an ultrasound machine, E-Stim, paraffin wax and pulley weights. Ridgecrest is well known for behavior units and specialized dementia and advanced dementia units as well as psych-related illnesses, medically compromised cases focusing on rehabilitation for orthopedic, stroke recovery and wound care. Ridgecrest is always fine tuning an interdisciplinary team approach to care in order to better serve residents. The behavior units and the dementia units are secured, each with dedicated dining rooms, activity centers and outdoor courtyards. The rehabilitation and long-term care units also have ample dining, activity, and outdoor courtyard space in addition to a large therapy room. Since Ridgecrest has specialized care programs, this means the staff is also very specialized. The staff assigned to work on the behavior units and the dementia units receive initial and weekly training by a Clinical Psychologist that is tailored to individual resident needs. Making a Difference RidgeCrest Health Care is recognized State wide for our Specialized Behavior Programs and the care we provide our residents. RidgeCrest HealthCare participated in the Palliative Care for Advanced Dementia: A Model Teaching Unit grant program funded by The Legacy Foundation in collaboration with The Beatitudes Campus and Hospice of the Valley. The purpose of this program was to teach staff and facilities excellent dementia care to improve the comfort and quality of life of residents with moderate to advanced dementia. “Enhancing the Senses of Advanced Dementia Residents” – The Snoezelen Approach to Therapeutic Activities program. RidgeCrest received a grant from the Arizona Department of Health Services to purchase Snoezelen equipment and study the effects on residents with Advanced Dementia. The Snoezelen approach uses technology to enhance sensory experiences with the use of lights, sounds, aromas, tactile surfaces and moving images to stimulate, relax, calm, or energize participants.
